About
The Full Story

Lorna Keighron is an award-winning contemporary jewellery designer based in Dublin, Ireland. Originally from Southeast England, she moved to County Sligo, Ireland, in 2019, where her appreciation for the natural environment deepened, captivated by the rugged landscape of the Ox Mountains. She later relocated to Dublin and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Jewellery and Objects at the National College of Art and Design. In 2024, she was honored with a Future-Maker Award from the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland, recognizing her talent, potential, and creativity. Her work will be presented in Munich Jewellery week March 2025.
“My journey into making began at a young age. I would collect objects I found, creating things that I perceived as beautiful—whether it was pinecones from my garden or buttons from my mother’s sewing box. I always found each object to be unique.

My fascination with craft grew, and my interest expanded into fashion and textiles, as the way we present ourselves is a form of expression. I am deeply committed to sustainable design and believe that we can play a role in protecting the land we inhabit. Although my love for jewellery making has always been present, I only pursued it seriously after moving to Ireland. My work is heavily influenced by the land—its texture, form, and shape—together evoking a sense of place. The connection between the land and the human form is important, allowing the viewer to feel a presence within the landscape.

I create sculptural, wearable forms using the technique of hand carving, primarily from native ash wood that I sustainably source from my home in County Sligo. I connect deeply with the art of wood carving; it is fluid and unpredictable, showcasing a sense of rawness in each piece. By combining wood and silver in a complementary manner, I strive to establish a connection between the environment and the wearer through the use of materials, tactility, and form.

Throughout my practice, I aim to grow, develop new skills, and experiment with found objects and sustainable materials gathered from the surrounding landscape. My creativity and admiration for the natural world will always be present, and through my work, I hope to raise awareness about the challenges it faces.”
